Apple Remote: Dissapointing

Just finally got my Apple Remote hooked up with my Apple Universal Dock and my Apple iPods. As Apple goes, this was a pretty crappy experience. First of all, the instructions don't say anything, other than "see the manual for the product you're using with it." OK, so you really shouldn't need instructions, right? I mean, just look at it...not too taxing. First of all, they don't mention anywhere that you need to "pair" the remote with your iPod. How was I supposed to know this? Secondly, the "menu" button does nothing except said pairing. Wouldn't you say it's reasonable to expect that the menu button on the remote would correspond to the menu button on the iPod? I would. And when I finally did get it working, it only advances or reverses the song, or adjusts the volume. You can't even change albums or artists! Wow, I'm not quite as ashamed of being a PC guy anymore. The Apple Remote is a shoddy letdown to an elegant promise. (incidentally, the guy at Circuit City assured me that this would work with no dock...in other words, iPod in my backpack, remote in my hand....no connection. My fault for being that gullible, but wouldn't THAT be a cool product!)
