The Ten Pound Factor (music)

The Ten Pound Factor is two guys - Ryan and Chris Chisolm. Their site doesn't give much more info, but the lead track, "Our Philosophy," from their latest album is a psychedelic-in-a-Tears-For-Fears kinda way. Layered vocals and nice bass lines. Worth checking out.

Yahoo Music Engine STAY AWAY

I installed and actually used this program to give it a try. I imported my music and listened to on demand music. Only THEN did I realized that it had overwritten the meta-tags on my songs and CHANGED ALL MY GENRES! This is one of the most intrusive programs I've ever encountered. Worse than AOL and Real combined! Stay far away from Yahoo Music Engine.

Online Music Services

iTunes is great. The new Yahoo! music thing is pretty good too. I've been out of the music business for a while, but it seems to me that all these hardware and software companies need to get their shit together and play nicely with each other. Yahoo! talks about iPod compatibility on their help site, and the ACTUALLY DESCRIBE how you can purchase songs from them, burn them to a CD, then import them BACK into their engine JUST to be able to use them on your iPod. Who's got that kind of time? It's simple from the consumer's point of view: ANY PLAYER should work with ANY SERVICE. I know this is nothing new, but it's recently frustrated me!
